New Legal Framework for Medicines in Sweden

Monday, February 01, 2016

As of 1 January 2016, Sweden has a new legal framework for medicines. The new laws and regulations do not incur any significant changes other than structure and wording.

On the 1 January 2016, the law from 1992 governing medicines, ”Läkemedelslagen (1992:859)” was replaced by ”Läkemedelslagen (2015:315)”.

The same day, the regulation from 2006 for medicines, ”Läkemedelsförordningen (2006:272)” was replaced by ”Läkemedelsförordningen (2015:458)”.

The new laws and regulations do not incur any significant changes other than structure and wording. The most noteable changes are the new structure of paragraphs.

Old templates and references should be updated. Care should be taken not to use references to older regulations.
