A dispensing pharmacy may appoint a pharmacy service point for delivery and sale of medicinal products. A notification for a new pharmacy service point must be submitted to the Swedish MPA by the licence holder of the dispensing pharmacy.
A pharmacy licence holder may engage another business establishment (i.e. a supermarket) to act as a pharmacy service point for delivery and sale of medicinal products on behalf of the dispensing pharmacy. A notification must be submitted to the Swedish MPA by the licence holder.
Notification
- The notification must be submitted no later than 2 months before the activities begins at the pharmacy service point.
- Changes to the information submitted regarding a pharmacy service point must be notified to the Swedish MPA as soon as possible.
- If the business establishment will no longer be used as a pharmacy service point, a notification of this must be submitted by the pharmacy licence holder at least two months in advance. Notifications must contain the information set out in the regulatory framework, which is set out in the form.
Regulatory framework
The provisions for the pharmacy service points (HSLF-FS 2018:59) regulate, among other things:
- where the pharmacy service point can be set up
- how notifications to the Swedish MPA must be done
- how the pharmacy service points activities on behalf of the pharmacy must be performed
- the fact that the practice is covered by the pharmacy’s self-monitoring program.
