Vaccines are medicines that prevent infectious diseases. Vaccination is one of the most effective medical method to prevent contagious diseases.

The Swedish Medical Products Agency is the national authority responsible for regulation and surveillance of the development, manufacturing and sale of medicinal products.
Obtaining authorisation to sell vaccines in Sweden and the EU is governed by common EU laws.
The Public Health Agency recommends the vaccines that will be part of the different vaccination programmes.
Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions are responsible for the procurement of vaccines.
